Premier League result: We have our first upset of the season after just two matches and it’s a truly seismic one. Almost everybody’s favourites to go straight back to the Championship with little more than a whimper, Hull City have run out deserved winners against Manchester United in their first match back in the top flight.
Championship: Jhon Solis thinks he’s restored parity for Birmingham City against Bristol City at a corner, but his effort is ruled out because Sam Tickle’s view was being impaired by Marvin Ducksch, who was standing in an offside position. It’s a big let-off for Bristol City.

Birmingham City 1-1 Bristol City At St Andrew’s, Scott Twine scrambled home past James Beadle to give Bristol City the lead, only for the hosts to equalise when a Carlos Vicente shot off the post went in off Bristol City goalkeeper Sam Tickle’s back.
Lincoln City 1-2 Portsmouth The Imps are up against it at Sincil Bank, where Portsmouth lead by the odd goal in three. Young Chelsea loanee Ryan Kavuma-McQueen opened the scoring for Pompey and Adrian Segecic doubled their lead with a free-kick that took a slight deflection. The home side have since pulled a goal back thanks to a Reeco Hackett penalty awarded for handball.
Millwall 1-0 Norwich The home side lead courtesy of a Tairyk Arconte tap-in, while Norwich were extremely fortunate not to fall two goals behind when Jake Cooper had an effort ruled out for a very tight offside.

Hello everybody and welcome to the first clockwatch of the new season! It’s been just over a month since Spain lifted the World Cup in New Jersey and this weekend marks the return of the Premier League. There wasn’t a hydration break or all-singing, all dancing half-time extravaganza in sight as Arsenal and Coventry City got the ball rolling at the Emirates Stadium last night. The reigning champions strolled to victory over a newly-promoted Sky Blues side who could not have been handed a tougher assignment for their first top flight game in 25 years.
The MKM Stadium is the venue for the first of today’s top flight games, with Hull City beginning their latest stint in the Premier League with a match against Manchester United. Hull are currently making a total mockery of their status as white-hot favourites to be relegated, having roared out of the traps and taken a thoroughly deserved two-goal half-time lead through Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy. Can they close out the win ahead of a trio of three o’clock kick-offs featuring Everton v Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town v Sunderland and Nottingham Forest v Leeds United?
