Serbia (5-4-1)

Djordje Petrovic (GK) Not to blame for Serbia’s ineptitude, although he was unconvincing on the third goal. 3

Kosta Nedeljkovic (RB) Thomas Tuchel’s call to drop Marcus Rashford paid off. Nedeljkovic was removed at half-time. 3

Strahina Erakovic (CB) Another who found it tough. England’s diagonal runs from the left caused problems. Serbia crumbled. 3

Nikola Milenkovic (CB) Utterly dreadful. Nowhere to be seen when England broke through. Dismissed for a clumsy tackle on Kane. 2

Strahina Pavlovic (CB) Played to the left and failed to deal with the movement around him. Serbia were cumbersome at the back. 3

Veljko Birmancevic (LB) Destroyed by Noni Madueke – could not handle the Arsenal winger’s speed. Off at half-time. 3

Andrija Zivkovic (RM) The game passed him by. Pushed back by England’s forwards. Serbia were horribly negative. 3

Nemanja Maksimovic (CM) Tried to keep track of the runners but was overwhelmed. Serbia did not try to win. 3

Sasa Lukic (CM) Utterly outplayed in the middle. Found himself chasing shadows, and was barely on the ball. 3

Ivan Ilic (LM) Anonymous. Made no impact in attack before being replaced when the game was done. 3

Dusan Vlahovic (CF) The Juventus forward was isolated during the first half. Sent one tame shot over. 3

Substitutes Filip Kostic (for Birmancevic ht) 4; Luka Jovic (for Nedeljkovic ht) 4; Lazar Samardzic (for Ilic 61) 4; Aleksander Mitrovic (for Vlahovic 70) 4; Milos Veljkovic (for Zivkovic 76) 4.

England (4-3-3)

Jordan Pickford (GK) Looked to hit plenty of long goal-kicks. Did not have anything serious to do. 7

Reece James (RB) Delivered plenty of crosses. Strong defensively, dominated the right flank. Serbia could not touch him. 8

Ezri Konsa (CB) In for Dan Burn and grabbed his first goal for his country. A composed performance. 8

Marc Guéhi (CB) Oozed confidence. Strode out of defence to play perceptive passes. Deserved his first international goal. 9

Tino Livramento (LB) Replaced Myles Lewis-Skelly and played well. Made overlapping runs and snuffed out any Serbian threat. 8

Elliot Anderson (CM) Impressive on his second appearance. Knitted moves together and offered balance. Looks like he belongs. 8

Declan Rice (CM) The Arsenal influence was strong. Set-piece prowess led to three goals. Missed some good chances. 8

Morgan Rogers (CM) Sparked the attack into life with lovely spins and through balls. Beautiful assist for 2-0. Player of the match. 9

Noni Madueke (RW) Another lively display with Bukayo Saka out. Ran clear to score the second. Unselfish, creative. 9

Harry Kane (CF) One of his best games for a while. Headed in the opener, led the line brilliantly. 8

Anthony Gordon (LW) Excellent. Full of trickery and could have scored twice. Picked up a silly booking. 8

Substitutes Marcus Rashford (for Gordon 69) 7; Djed Spence (for James 69) 6; Ollie Watkins (for Kane 76) 7; Jarrod Bowen (for Madueke 76) 6; Jordan Henderson (for Rice 81) 6.
