62 min: Manchester City 1-0 Salford City It’s been far from a classic so far. Manchester City have failed to get going – a far cry from their 5-0 lead against Salford at the same stage of the game last season.

GOAL! Burnley 1-1 Mansfield Town (Oates, 53)

Oates makes up for his previous miss. Kyle Knoyle plays it deep towards the back post for Oates to rise highest and head the ball back across goal past a helpless goalkeeper.

GOAL! Southampton 1-1 Leicester (Skipp, 52)

What a goal! Skipp overhead kicks a bouncing ball past the keeper at the near post to get Leicester level.

49 min: Burnley 1-0 Mansfield Town What a chance for Mansfield! Rhys Oates runs through on goal after Hjalmar Ekdal slips in defence. Oates shapes to bend his effort into the far corner but he leans back and blazes it over the bar.

Half time: Manchester City 1-0 Salford City

Salford are still in this one. Despite failing to string together many passes, the away side have managed to fashion a couple of chances. Salford have had the only shot on target all game after Dorrington’s own goal gave Manchester City the lead.

Cyle Larin converts his penalty to give the home side the lead before the break.

GOAL! Burnley 1-0 Mansfield (Laurent, 21)

Laurent gives Burnley the lead with a brilliant finish. Burnley work the ball really well on the edge of the box before Laurent sells the goalkeeper with a fake shot and passes the ball into an empty net.

13 min: Manchester City 1-0 Salford City Conceding so early is a huge psychological blow to Salford after their 8-0 defeat against City last season. Your fear it could be a long game for the away side.

GOAL! Manchester City 1-0 Salford City (Dorrington, 6)

Manchester City haven’t wasted any time in this one. Rayan Ait-Nouri whips a cross into the box and it deflects off Alfie Dorrington into the back of the net.

Preamble

Hello and welcome to another Saturday clockwatch. Today we have seven FA Cup fourth round games to enjoy, including Manchester City v Salford City and Burnley v Mansfield Town at 3pm.

Manchester City will be aiming for a repeat of their victory over Salford City last season. Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed their League Two neighbours 8-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, the only previous meeting between the two clubs. Karl Robinson’s side have already one upped themselves this year by qualifying for the fourth round of the FA Cup at the first time in their history.

Meanwhile, Burnley will be keen to build on their 3-2 win against Crystal Palace earlier this week. Scott Parker said the win has “lifted the mood” for the club sitting 19th in the Premier League. Mansfield Town find themselves in the opposite situation, coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat against Peterborough. The loss was the League One side’s first of 2026, with manager Nigel Cough criticising their “wasteful” first half.

We’ll also have updates from the rest of the FA Cup games and the Football League action. As always, feel free to get in touch with me. Let’s go!
