  • Dan Abbate, 31, Gorilla Tango Novelty Meats CEO and big hot dog inventor, holds the Guinness World Record for the largest hot dog commercially available. It weighs 3.18kg (7lb) and measures 40.64cm (16in) long and 10.16cm in diameter. Just one can provide 40 regular-sized servings at a cost of $40 (£24.60)

  • Lisa Dennis, from Orpington, London, set the female record for fastest time to break 1,000 roof tiles, clocking 83.98 seconds

  • Zeus, a two-year-old grey and brown American Great Dane, from Bedford, Texas, holds the record for the tallest dog

  • Beth Johnson demonstrates the world’s largest yo-yo, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Measuring 3.6258 metres in diameter and weighing 2,095.6kg, the disc plunged 36.5 metres on a rope attached to a 68-tonne crane before successfully rebounding. She tested it three times before achieving the record, but it crashed on each occasion. She then spent many hours fixing it before her fourth – successful – attempt

  • Bigfoot 5, which holds the record for the largest monster truck, is 4.7 metres tall with 3-metre tall tyres and weighs 17,236kg. It is one of a fleet of 17 Bigfoot trucks created by Bob Chandler of St Louis, and was built in the summer of 1986

  • Harnaam Kaur, of the UK, is the world’s youngest female with a full beard, at 24 years 282 days old. At the age of 11, Kaur noticed she was growing facial hair and was later diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which means she has much more testosterone than most women. She was bullied for many years, but over time learned not to let it affect her. She wants people to know that it’s natural for women to grow facial and body hair

  • Jyoti Amge holds the record for the shortest woman alive. According to her mother, Ranjana, Jyoti was of average height until she was five, when her growth became impeded. Later, it was discovered that she had a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. She says: ‘Getting this record has made me feel better about myself. I feel popular, special and important’

  • The Guinness World Record for the fastest tortoise in the world is held by Bertie, a South African leopard tortoise, who covered 5.49 metres in 19.59 seconds
